When the lens of the eyeball becomes cloudy, it is called a cataract. Most cataract patients are elderly people over the age of 65. Children and young people may also suffer from this disease, but the proportion is smaller. It can cause blurred vision.
Symptoms of Cataract
- Vision becomes blurred, especially when looking into distances, and the condition is usually more severe in one of the eyes.
- A small number of patients will develop glaucoma as a result.
What causes a cataract?
- As the blood supply function of the eye lens gradually declines with age, the transparency of the lens will gradually decrease. This is why most of the patients are elderly.
- Diabetes or night blindness can also cause cataracts.
- It can also occur if a blow to the eye changes the structure of the lens, or if the eye is stabbed.
Treatment
There is no way to deal with it on your own, and medication is often ineffective.
- The general treatment method is to surgically implant an “artificial lens” to replace the original lens. Current surgery can restore vision quickly.
- You will still need to use eye drops and eye ointment for several weeks after surgery to prevent infection.
